Last week Hazel and Craig started collecting sediment samples from across Port Germein as part of their  Metals in Port Pirie Sediments project.  While it was hot (especially for early November!), at least the seas were calm and we covered a lot of ground (sea), collecting water quality and sediment samples from more than 50 sites. Hazel is now busily processing these in the lab to assess them for metals, which will then go into our updated estimate of the total loads of metals in the marine areas off Port Pirie.

Special thanks go out to Warwick Noble from the EPA who was a terrific skipper and got us into all sorts of places that we hadn’t expected to be able to get to, like this mangrove creek.
